The date was 22 August 2018. Xiaomi took the smartphone industry by storm by introducing a new sub-brand and a new phone, the POCO F1. It was a true flagship killer, with a SD 845 processor and 6/8GB of RAM. It was launched at an introductory price of ₹20,999 (~$300).
Naturally, it became a huge hit and POCO gained a lot of respect among the tech community. The POCO F1 was a new phone and not a rebranded version of Xiaomi's other phones.
Fast forward to Feb 2020, almost 1.5 years after the launch of the F1, POCO launched the X2, a premium midrange smartphone. It was a rebranded Redmi K30. But it was a good phone and got good sales.
Then, POCO launched the M2 Pro, which is a rebranded mix of the Indian and Global versions of the Redmi Note 9 Pro. This phone has got a lot of controversy due to not living up to POCO standards.
The POCO F1 is regarded as a cult classic, and since then, POCO has not done anything which lives up to the F1's name.
I hope @indiapoco realises that rebranding phones is not cool and takes swift action before it gets too late...
